House of the Dragon: Aemond's Cruel Intentions

Brotherly Rivalry Turns Deadly

Aemond's Regret and Ambitions

Throughout both seasons of "House of the Dragon," it has been evident that Aemond Targaryen has harbored immense regret over the accidental killing of his nephew, Lucerys Velaryon. However, recent events suggest that this regret may be intertwined with a darker motive: the desire to eliminate his own brother, Aegon Targaryen.

The Battle of the Green Fork

In the fourth episode of season two, "The Green Council," a heated battle ensues at the Green Fork. Aegon, despite his initial reluctance, reluctantly joins the fight astride his young dragon, Sunfyre. However, Aemond's intentions towards his brother become increasingly sinister as the episode progresses.

Aemond's Betrayal

In a moment of desperation, Aemond commands his dragon, Vhagar, to unleash a torrent of fire towards Aegon and Sunfyre. This shocking attempt on his brother's life is a significant departure from George R.R. Martin's original source material, indicating a deliberate alteration in the show's narrative.

Aegon's Fate

The episode concludes with the tragic demise of Aegon and Sunfyre. The dragon falls to the ground, severely injured and burned. Aegon, trapped beneath the wreckage, succumbs to his wounds. Aemond's ruthless actions and Aegon's own callous cruelty ultimately lead to his downfall.
