Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on January 17, 1986, in Simferopol, Ukrainian SSR, Oleksandr Usyk is currently 36 years old. His journey into the world of boxing began at the tender age of 15, when he joined the local boxing club to shed some extra weight and improve his overall fitness.

Usyk quickly proved to be a natural in the ring, showcasing exceptional skills and a relentless determination. In 2002, at the age of 16, he claimed his first major title by winning the Ukrainian Junior National Championships in the light heavyweight division.

Rise to Prominence and Olympic Success

Usyk's rise through the amateur ranks was meteoric. He captured the European Amateur Boxing Championships in 2006 and 2008, and represented Ukraine at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Unification and Undisputed Cruiserweight Champion

Usyk's hunger for greatness didn't end there. He went on to unify the cruiserweight division, defeating Mairis Briedis for the WBC title in 2018 and Murat Gassiev for the WBA, IBF, and The Ring magazine titles in 2018. By the end of 2018, Usyk had become the undisputed cruiserweight champion, holding all four major world titles.

Move to Heavyweight and World Title Challenges

In 2019, at the age of 33, Usyk made the bold decision to move up to the heavyweight division. Despite the size and power advantage of his opponents, Usyk's exceptional skills and adaptability allowed him to make a seamless transition.

In September 2021, Usyk challenged Anthony Joshua for the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. In a highly anticipated bout, Usyk outboxed Joshua, winning via unanimous decision and becoming the new heavyweight champion at the age of 35.
